University of Porto’s first patent granted in South Africa is from DEQ

For the first time in its history, the University of Porto has obtained a patent in South Africa, thus increasing the number of territories in which the intellectual property of technologies produced at the U.Porto is protected internationally.

The patent for the invention “Panels with granulated rubber core and high pressure laminate faces and production method thereof”, led at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) by Fernão Magalhães, Associate Professor at DEQ and researcher at LEPABE | ALiCE, was granted in South Africa in April 2023.
