Manuel Simões, professor at DEQ and senior researcher of LEPABE, integrates for the third consecutive year the Highly Cited Researchers index, an initiative of Clarivate Analytics – a North American company specialized in scientific information management – which recognizes, annually, the most influential scientists worldwide, based on the number of citations of their publications by their peers.
Published this Wednesday, this list of scientists highlights a total of 6 938 scientists from 69 countries, referenced in the Web of Science repository. Professor Manuel Simões is one of the 20 Portuguese scientists distinguished this year, and one of the 3 from the University of Porto.
His research focuses mainly on the study of biofilms, the development of antimicrobial strategies to control microbial growth and in the area of bioprocess engineering.
