Luis Miguel Madeira, associate professor at FEUP’s Chemical Engineering Department, was nominated Portuguese academia delegate for the Working Party on Education (WPE) of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE), by indication of the Order of Engineers. WPE (https://efce.info/WPE.html) consists of members from academia and industry out of 22 European countries (+ 2 corresponding members from Australia and South Africa). Its mission is related with the education and formation of chemical engineers through higher education and continuing professional development, promoting co-operation and sharing of best practices.
The last WPE meeting took place in April 30th 2020, by videoconference. Among the several topics discussed, the following should be emphasized:
- Completion of WPE/EFCE recomendations for Education in Chemical Engineering, which are a consequence of the changes performed in 2015 by EUR-ACE on the 1st and 2nd engineering cycles;
- Discussion of the model for sharing pedagogical experiences involving new teaching methodologies;
- Presentation of European project CHAIRMING – European Training Network for Chemical Engineering Immersive Learning.
