FEUP’s Master’s in Chemical Engineering has been recognised by ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education) through the award of the EUR-ACE® Quality Mark. This certificate recognises the high quality standards of the programme, as well as compliance with the educational requirements for Master’s programmes in Engineering.
The high international recognition of EUR-ACE® facilitates academic and professional mobility. The benefits for engineering students and professionals include:
- the guarantee that the accredited programme meets European and international standards and is recognised by employers in Europe;
- easier application to other master’s or doctoral programmes accredited by the system;
- the guarantee that the course meets the educational requirements for access to registration with the associations that regulate the profession (in Portugal, the Order of Engineers);
- promoting professional mobility in accordance with the EU directive on the recognition of professional qualifications(Directive 2005/36/EC);
- the process of obtaining the professional engineering card “ENGINEERING CARD“, promoted by FEANI (European Federation of National Engineering Associations);
- simplified access to the European Engineering Professional Title “EUR ING Title” awarded by FEANI, via the national member (Ordem dos Engenheiros, in Portugal).
In Portugal, the organisation that issues this European quality label to academic institutions is the Ordem dos Engenheiros, duly accredited by ENAEE.
The EUR-ACE® Quality Mark thus represents the start of a new accreditation cycle at European level, aimed at the mutual accreditation of engineering courses with recognised criteria.
