She graduated at FEUP and, in 2004, left for the United States to obtain a PhD in Biochemistry Engineering. She now works at AstraZeneca and since April she has been involved in the vaccine project for Covid-19. In this interview, Irina Ramos makes it clear that training in Engineering in Portugal “is equated with the best schools in the world”, and recalls the fundamental role of Engineering in combating the pandemic. “Chemical engineers are fundamental for developing the Covid-19 vaccine process.”
