R&D Projects with industry
DEQ has maintained a close relationship with various sectors of the industry, both Portuguese and foreign. This proximity has led to several R&D projects led by industrial partners in which the DEQ Research Units actively participate.
Master’s Dissertations in industry
Another manifestation of DEQ’s proximity to the industry is the high number of Master’s Dissertations that have been proposed by national companies, allowing students to approach industrial reality with high training value. About 60% of the Dissertations of the Integrated Masters in Chemical Engineering have been held in a industrial environment.
Training course in collaboration with BASF
BASF, a German multinational that is currently the largest chemical company in the world, proposed to DEQ in 2018 the creation of a competence center in the paint field, given the relevance of this sector in the industrial panorama of the Northern Portugal. In order to complement the training of future Chemical Engineers, a training course in Paint and Coatings Technology was created, in which, in addition to BASF itself, four national paint companies collaborate: Arga, Barbot, CIN and Tintas 2000. The first edition of this course took place in 2019, with high success.
