DEQ’s team develops new propylene purification process with Total petrochemical

To decrease energy consumption in the oil products industry? Yes, it is possible. And decrease, at the same time, the operating costs of that same petrochemical industry with an easy to implement process? It is also possible, and there is a group of researchers from the DEQ-FEUP, led by the multi-award winning professor Alírio Rodrigues (LSRE-LCM research unit), working on it. The technology, developed within a partnership between FEUP with the company TOTAL Petrochemicals France and with KRICT, a research institute in South Korea, was the first invention made in U.Porto to obtain a patent grant in that Asian country.
