On January 28, took place another edition of ‘Dia da FEUP’, an event held annually in January with the objective of recognizing and valuing the success of the members of the Community who stood out the most in the previous year.
In this year’s edition, the DEQ was highlighted when two of its teachers were awarded the Excellence prizes. Professor Francisco Xavier Malcata won the Pedagogical Excellence Award, while Professor Luís Miguel Madeira won the Scientific Excellence Award.
Also of note was the 1st Edition of the Recognition Award “Distinguished Engineering in Female”, with the objective of promoting gender equality and recognising the contribution of female Engineering graduates in different areas. In 2022, and for the first time, the FEUP Alumna honoured was Engª Maria Isolete Torres Matos, former Chemical Engineering student, who had a highly successful career in the paper industry, having been the first woman production director of a paper mill in all of Europe.
