The project E-RecyOuro, led by researchers Helena Soares and Liliana Martelo, from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering (FEUP) and REQUIIMTE (Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry-Clean Technologies and Processes), won the 8th edition of the U.Porto Business Ideas Competition.

The awarded idea proposes an innovative, economical and environmentally friendly method to recycle metals with high added value, present in Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (REEE), which includes a wide range of equipment at the end of life, including computers, mobile phones, home appliances, televisions, among others.

In addition to the monetary prize, the E-RecyOuro team will have the opportunity to represent the U.Porto in the national final of the Business Ideas Competition “Empreende+”, an initiative promoted under the UI-CAN project Universities as an Interface for Entrepreneurship.
