Carla Pereira, former DEQ student, will be awarded the SCI GORDON E. MOORE medal. This prestigious award recognises success in innovation, reflected in both market impact and improved quality of life, early in one’s career.

Carla Pereira received her PhD at FEUP in 2009 with the thesis “Process Intensification for the Green Solvent Ethyl Lactate Production based on Simulated Moving Bed and Pervaporation Membrane Reactor”, under the guidance of Prof. Alírio Rodrigues and Dr. Viviana Silva (now at BASF), both from LSRE-LCM. Between 2009 and 2013 she continued as a post-doctoral researcher in this research unit.

In July 2014 she joined ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company in Newark, NJ, USA, where she is currently Section Chief working on research and development of new solvent technology for use in the gas industry.
